The Red Eel Press was setup in mid-2011 & specialises in letterpress & print pieces.  A Librarian by day I work from a small home print shop & have been printmaking since 'accidentally' purchasing a desktop press in early 2011.

All work is hand set & printed on an Adana 8x5 platen press, two Adana QH flatbeds, a Cropper & Charlton Peerless & a Farley No.11 proofing press using a variety of papers, Adana & Hawthorn inks, wooden blocks, metal ornaments/fleurons/printer’s flowers & metal/wood typefaces.

The papers & fleurons used by the press are sourced from small independent suppliers, presses & foundries across the UK, Japan & the United States.

The emphasis of the press is on clean & simple printmaking, inspired by the arts & crafts movement, 19th century book art, a love of good design, the printed word & pattern.

I have a passion for Monotype borders & fleurons, celebrating both the designers of these borders & the endless pattern combinations that can be printed with them.
